Bedbugs will cause a cluster of bites on exposed areas of the body but everyone reacts differently to bedbug bites. Bedbugs have anesthetic properties to their saliva and they lick across the skin to numb the area before attempting to feed. Bites are observed the next day. You will not feel bedbugs biting you. If you feel as though you are being bitten at night it is probably not bedbugs. The sensation may be caused by something else including environmental conditions.
Some people may be allergic to bedbug bites and the reaction may include swelling, redness, and itching depending on the reaction to the salivary allergens in bedbugs by the individual.
