Everyone would like to keep rodents out of their home. After all, they are dirty, and carry bacteria and diseases. They will get into your food and leave droppings causing contamination.
Here are a few suggestions for keeping rats and mice out of your home.
1. Close your garage door and shut the light. Once your eyes adjust, see if you notice any light coming in from the bottom of the door.
2. Repeat this step in the basement, look for areas where you have a drier duct leading outside, pipes, or air conditioning lines.
3. Use expanding foam and steel wool to seal these holes up.
4. Check the exterior for dense foliage close to the house, always have this trimmed back. Pacasandra and Ivy are rodent hot beds.
5. Bird seed is highly attractive to rodents. If you have birds put the seeds in a plastic container with a lid.
6. Do not feed birds outside your property.
In many cases we recommend the installation of rodent bait stations on the exterior of the home. This reduces the rodent population around your home and decreases the chances rodents will get in. Bait stations are usually installed and maintained by a professional.
If you already have mice or rats in the structure you will need to capture or kill what's inside. We can help you with that by using techinques and equipment that will give you fast results.
